Our stay here was a warm and cozy one. This is definitely a remote location. A great place to sleep in, linger over breakfast and finish reading a few books. We came here to see northern lights in the winter. While there is some light pollution from the homes across the water, we took some great pictures. There are no mountains or trees here at the north shore to block your view. However the village is not exactly well equipped, so we bought all of our groceries in Svolvaer, a 35 minutes drive away. Maybe there is a bakery or a cafe in Laukvik, but they never seemed to be open in February during our stay. The beds in the main sleeping room were a bit smallish and traditionally lumpy, but was nonetheless comfy. There is a loft area from the kitchen with 2 beds perfect for children that can climb a ladder. However, parents can spend evenings in the separate living room. This place is definitely off the beaten path and car is needed to see/do things around the islands.

This 'apartment' is in fact a bed-sit plus bathroom but none the worse for that. Vibeke, the hostess, has provided everything you could want in the way of utensils and equipment. Plus it's located very near to the coast with views over the sea to Vesteralen and inland to Matmora mountain. Laukvik village is about 2k away if you want supplies or a cafe. Plus the price is very reasonable and you can view the midnight sun over the sea, if you wish. Vibeke is helpful with local advice and the bus stops right outside. I loved it.

Vibeke is a kindhearted host: Even before our stay we had a nice conversation because she was away during our stay but put an effort into organising everything for us.||Her friendly neighbour Kari showed us around and we had very nice days in the Arne Stua apartment. It is a fully eqipped apartment with everything you might need (even baking utensils). The bed was really comfortable and the whole apartment felt very cosy. The view is so great: You can see the sea from the huge windows! ||Additionally you can sit at the beach bench, eat outside at the picnic table, grab bycicles for free and use the atelier, a little house with a very fun, creative atmosphere and an oven! The cat was kind of reserved at first, but came in to cuddle after we spent some time there :=)

We visited in late May and rented the guest house. It is perfect, I can't think of a thing missing in the guest house, even thermos bottles to keep drinks warm on the go, candles for a nice evening at "home" or a water cooker was there!!! And then there was Vibeke who tried her very best to make us feel welcome. She prepared breakfast every morning with different breads, lunch meats and cheeses. She set the table so nicely!||Perfect to watch the midnight sun! There is even a bench to sit at the beach and watch for the sun to go down. A nice rocky beach to walk along and look for sea shells and rocks. We even found sea urchin shells in different colors!||||We loved, loved our home away from home and hope to come back someday!

Viva Lofoten is one of those places you'd love to keep secret. But that would not be fair to the rest of the world. We, a family with teenage kids, enjoyed "gjestehuset" for two days, and we really didn't want to leave at all. We loved everything about it! The house is generous in all ways - space, decoration, equipment, views - everything is far beyond what you normally expect. We just relaxed in the house and strolled along the shore collecting shells. We even spotted porpoises, seals and eagles! And at night we could watch the midnight sun from our beds. Thank you, Vibeke, for sharing your glimpse of paradise with us.

Vibeka was a wonderful host- nothing too much trouble, This is an isolated beautiful spot from which you can borrow bikes, paint, read or sightsee.||We started out in a room in her house and when the guesthouse became available, she was happy to move us across . From the guesthouse there is a magnificent view of the midnight sun - if you are fortunate to be there when it is not cloudy. The light is magic and if we had been painters there is an artists studio available. ||It is room only but you have access to a kitchen if you want to cook.

Thanks Vibeke for having been such a kind and supporting host. After a midnight light bycicle ride, in a windy and rainy weather, we were so exhausted, that Viva Lofoten was a kind of mirage. When we woke up in the morning we realized that we were in a wonderful world in a fairy tales house. The landlady Vibeke saved my wife hiring knee and our vacation taking us back to the neared pharmacy in Svolvær. A riding holiday turned to be a driving one, but it let us enjoy the marvelous Lofoten islands. Thanks a lot again!
