I accidentally booked one bed instead of two, which became clear when we arrived. When we tried to fix it with the owner, there was no understanding whatsoever, and he threatened to refuse us as guests. His tone was far from inviting and unfriendly. After we paid for a second bed everything was okay, but the experience was far from nice. The bathroom is shared with 16 people, and the rooms are rather small and dusty. Sure it was cheaper than the hotels in the city centre, but it is worth your time to consider a hotel over this hostel...

Hey,
I made a week ago my first hostel experience in Kyst a apartments and I liked it really much.
I had a great time, met many really cool people and the location was always just 15minutes away from every activity.
Overall it was great but i also have some little complains.
1. Messaging the Host
I arrived to early (11am) due to my flight, so i asked the host which room i have and if i could leave my luggage in the living to explore the city till check in.
He only answered my second question, but i don’t know why, he didn’t just wanted to say „I’ll tell you you’re room number right before check in“ he always avoided the question even though i asked a few times to just have peace of mind.
It wasn’t a problem as i said, but it’s just wears to feel left in the dark.
2. Cleaning
It was okay, but not great, so don’t expect too much
3. Front door
The front door is always open (which makes sense so everybody can enter whenever he feels to) but it was also broken (like many other doors in the house), sometimes it just slammed open and closed itself due to a broken lock.

At the final i want to say these complains sound worse then they are, but i feel like to mention them.
and as i said i still had a very great time and recommend it to everybody who is on a budget

My experience with Kyst Apartment was an absolute disgrace —scandalous, disappointing, and deeply unprofessional.

I contacted the host, Mr. Miguel, with legitimate and straightforward questions about the property’s setup, as I needed to conduct online teaching during my stay. Instead of offering clear or helpful responses, he responded with vague, dismissive, and increasingly patronizing messages.

When I inquired about the expected occupancy and capacity to assess whether the property would meet my needs, Mr. Miguel refused to provide even the most basic information. His tone was condescending, and it became evident he was more focused on shutting down the conversation than offering any meaningful support. His dismissive attitude made it impossible for me to plan accordingly, and when I expressed my frustration and mentioned I would note my experience in a review, his response was nothing short of outrageous.

Less than 24 hours before my arrival, Mr. Miguel canceled my reservation, claiming I was "not welcome" because he did not like the tone of my messages. He went so far as to accuse me of threatening him with a review and speculated—without any justification—that I would be rude to other guests. As if this weren’t bad enough, he contacted my employer (who had made the booking on my behalf), shared our private conversation, and portrayed me in an extremely negative light, causing professional embarrassment.This behavior is a shocking violation of professionalism and privacy. It costed me unnecessary stress, time to resolve, damage to my professional reputation, and of course extra expenses due to booking last minute accomodation in the high season in Tromsø. If that wasn't enough, I had to involve Booking.com to recover the payment and address the host’s outrageous conduct.

While the property may suit some travelers, the lack of transparency, outright hostility, and unprofessional behavior I experienced make it impossible to recommend. Mr. Miguel’s handling of this situation was appalling, and I urge potential guests to think twice before booking—especially if you expect even the slightest level of support, courtesy, or professionalism.

I am not sure the owner cancel or booking system cancel me. I booked at least 2 months ago. The time near my travelling, I received Email warning I need to pay something wrong with my card...then after 20h. Cancel straight away. Even they sent me email warning on 1st Jan when I did not check my email. STILL LUCKYLY TO ME THEY CANCEL BEFORE I TRAVEL AND I BOOKED WITH ANOTHER ONE (EVEN MORE PRICEY BUT IT IS SAFER.
update:I had not requested to pay outside the flatform. I booked with other hostel.

It’s an amazing place. Nice clean rooms and a great kitchen and living room. Would really recommend it. Miguel, the host, is really helpful.
