Very nice service, love the design och the whole place. Cozy and feeling of a cabin in the wood but with a modern touch. The only thing that wasen't that good was the breakfast, but to be honest Norwegians ain't that good at breakfasts in the first place so won't let that affect the overall review. Can't really recommend it for vegans and the options for the breakfast was truly basic even though it was well layed out. The hotell i small so once again I do understand it was not to big of a buffét. The beds (madress) was on the harder end of the spectrum, for me I don't mind but for my girlfriend she thought it was a bit too hard.|Over all, I would recommend and stay here again.

Very nice weekend at Kjølen hotel due to a "cross-country-ski-weekend". We arrived Friday afternoon and stayed until Sunday. It was our first stay at both this hotel and in this area of Norway. We enjoyed the nice warm atmosphere in the hotel and the hotel was impressive through-out styled to reflect the history of the hotel and the place. The food was excellent at a very reasonable price (not expensive), and the hotel was exceptional clean! The bed was also excellent (which always is a big case due to disk-problems in my back). ||The ski-slope was just outside the door - so very easy! And with the app "skisporet" it was easy to see and choose the wanted ski-slopes for the day.||So, the nice stay in this beautiful and peaceful environment gave us just the needed break from a busy everyday-life. The only thing missing was a hot-water-boiler in the room - it could have been nice to make a warm cup of tea when returning to the hotel after skiing.

Nyoppusset rom, men med "retro" bad. Veldig hyggelig vertinne.

I like this hotel very much. It is a 3 star hotel with an excellent extensive breakfast. Hot and cold food. The porridge is nice which I prefer rather than sugary cereals. The room is simply furnished Scandinavian style but everything works well. The bed is comfortable to sleep on, the WiFi speed is fast, the toilet and shower is a wet room with a powerful shower. The restaurant looks good but I've not eaten there. It is a 14 mile drive to Trysil and Salen ski resort in Sweden is one hour drive away. It hosted a cross country marathon ski race with competitors using the hotel as a base for the race preparing skis here waxing them etc. I assume some of them stayed here. Plenty of car parking here apart from when that event was on. Reasonably priced considering how much more expensive it would have been to stay in Trysil itself. I prefer breakfast at 7:30am but it is 8am here so a slight rush to get to the slopes from here. A petty point as I cannot really think of anything bad to say about this place. I'd recommend it to some friends who plan to come next year with small kids to learn to ski. Easy to find off highway 25 and close to a Co Op food store within walking distance of the hotel. Room is kept clean a well run hotel overall. No problems to report.

This is a small family run historical hotel with a in house restaurant, with cross-country tracks starting on the doorstep and with a 15-20 minutes drive to Trysil ski resort for alpine skiing. ||||We stayed from Friday until Sunday. Our pre stay communication with the hotel was excellent, arranging for a late arrival on the Friday. The host family who run the hotel is welcoming, friendly and always available should you need anything. They are originally dutch but moved here a decade ago or so, so as Norwegian as can be. ||||The interior of the hotel; the room (107), the restaurant, bar and lobby area are designed as a boutique hotel, in a rustic mountain/nature inspired design with a touch of vintage. However our bathroom (with shower, toiletries and dryer) was from the 70s. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of storage. There was also a small seating area in the room, a place to relax and unwind. Good to know: There's free wifi. ||||The hotel was super clean. In fact, spotless. The daily room service was excellent as well, with not only beds made and fresh towels brought in - but also our room tidied. ||||The breakfast was a slightly dull continental breakfast with everything you expect as well as pancakes, bacon and scrambled eggs as hot options. We missed home baked buns and bread as well as local cheese and charcuterie. However for dinner we enjoyed the hotel's a'la carte menu, and chose a home cooked meal, with elk meatballs in brown goats cheese sauce and lingonberry jam. Super delicious! The restaurant prices are affordable and the wine list is also fine. Again, we would have wished to see some local brewed beer on tap. But all in all, the bar is inviting and the perfect place to end a lovely day with a night cap. We ended up chatting to the younger generation of the host family at the bar and had a lovely evening. Recommending trying the Irish Coffee. ||||For a comfortable and relaxing stay in Trysil we would definitely stay again. ||||Note: This is a quiet hotel with mostly families and few couples staying.
