Wow. Can I give this place more than five stars? Nestled in a remote fishing town on the Lofoten Islands, FANGST surprised us. We were staying at the hotel next door, and had decided to try it out for a nice dinner to unwind and enjoy local cuisine.

We did not expect such an amazing experience. The dining room opens up to the water, with floor to ceiling windows. Seated at sunset, the ambiance was romantic and relaxing.

The service was top notch. Our waitresses explained each course, many of which are centered around sustainable eating and using fresh ingredients, including mushrooms picked that day.

Each course was a surprise. One of my favorites though was the dessert, with different local twists on confections.

I would highly recommend booking a reservation to experience!

This place did not disappoint.

The food was inventive, flavourful, and educational. The dishes combined fine dining elegance with traditional Norwegian forms of food preservation and preparation. They included ingredients and flavours that are unique to Norway and possibly the Lofoten area. Reindeer. Pickled root vegetables. Local seafood. Amazing.

The ambience was sophisticated but understated and welcoming. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant to anyone in Lofoten.

Very nice restaurant in a fantastic location! We had the three course menu with wine pairing which was delicious (the food and the wine 😉). Thanks to the passionate french manager who would also find an alternative wine if you didn‘t like the proposed.

FANGST est le meilleur restaurant des Lofoten: cuisine absolument délicieuse, cadre magnifique, service haut de gamme. Anaïs la jeune manager française est très professionnelle et extrêmement chaleureuse et sympathique. Je recommande vivement ce restaurant.

Very disappointed with this meal. We stayed at the hotel and decided to eat here but regretted it. Food was bland and not appropriate for vegetarians, seems like they simply took the meat/fish out of the dishes and replaced with badly cooked vegetables. When we fed back during our dinner, we were told the chefs weren’t used to cater for vegetarians. Wish they would have told us when we booked and specifically asked for this. Great views but would spend my money elsewhere.

This is such an amazing spot to try authentic Norwegian cuisine and truly unique dishes. I did not stay at Hattvika Lodge this go around, but it didn’t stop me from coming for a tasting menu at FANGST. My favorite dish was very unexpected, and it was some sort of a celery bite that was beyond words. The presentation of the dishes were perfect and I can’t wait to go back.

Our dining experience at Fangst Restaurant at Hattvika Lodge was truly exceptional. The Fangst team created a uniquely personal atmosphere by thoughtfully introducing each course and sharing the story behind the ingredients, all with remarkable attention to detail. From the very beginning, we felt genuinely welcomed, perfectly in line with the sign at the entrance of the hotel: “Home Abroad.”

The ingredients are locally sourced, and the three-course menu was beautifully balanced from start to finish. For the main course and dessert, we appreciated the option to choose between two different dishes, adding a nice touch of personalization.

The venue itself is absolutely stunning. Located right by the water, the restaurant offers breathtaking views of the ocean and harbor. It truly feels like you’re floating as you dine.

All in all, our experience at Fangst was one of a kind, hands down the best dinner we’ve ever had. It’s an absolute must-visit when in Ballstad or the surrounding area. We highly recommend spending an evening at Fangst Restaurant at Hattvika Lodge!

Nous avions réservé une table pour 20h00 et à notre arrivée un homme qui semblait être le propriétaire nous indique que le restaurant est fermé car les cuisines ferment à 20h00. Après lui avoir mentionné notre réservation il nous a invité à entrer… étrange accueil. Autrement, le repas s’est bien passé. La soupe de champignon était excellente. Le plat légèrement trop salé et dessert peu innovant pour le standing de l’établissement. La serveuse d’origine Finlandaise était très gentille et professionnelle
