Fantastisk sted å bo i idylliske omgivelser.

We spent three nights here and could've stayed week (or two) in this lovingly restored bungalow in the charming village of Solvorn. Nestled in a little valley on the banks of the fjord, Solvorn scratches every itch, satisfying every day-dream you've ever had about the grand Norwegian fjords. We booked the downstairs double room with en suite bath. At first I was concerned because it is right off of the common area. But the other guests/travelers were so quiet that this wasn't an issue. The bedroom was spacious (in comparison to other rooms we had stayed in in Norway/Europe) and the enormous bathroom included both a shower with great water pressure and a footed tub that was a work of art. Although it wasn't too terribly cold out when we were there, the heated towel rack in the bathroom was a nice touch. The bed, pillows and linens were comfortable, clean and cozy. The common area was a great place to relax at the end of the day and meet other travelers.|Solvorn Gjestehus is just that...a guesthouse. It is not a hotel. Run by Mara and her wife Jannika, they are around if you need them but really respect their guests 'space' and privacy. We were thankful we had the opportunity to chat with Mara (who has the gift of gab) as she encouraged us to visit the glacier--which ended up being the highlight of our stay in this area. Breakfast is self-serve. They left cheeses, cured meats, smoked salmon, and cucumbers in the drawer in the fridge for us, as well as eggs for steaming and rolls in the freezer to heat up. There was plenty of butter and local preserves, as well. On our last day, waffle batter appeared in the fridge for us to make waffles! (There is a waffle iron in the kitchen.) Coffee and tea were available for us to prepare all day. |If you enjoy drinking wine bring it town with you. We were able to purchase beer at the little store in town, but not wine. We were able to shop for lunch picnics at the little store and enjoyed our afternoon snacks and aperitifs on the back porch of the guesthouse with a view of the little town and fjord below. If you are looking for something a little different for lunch or dinner, pop down to the café where they serve pretty good Thai dishes.|We hiked, visited the 12th century church in Urnes, hiked the Nigard glacier and relaxed. It was a ideal couple of days in Solvorn. We'd highly recommend visiting Solvorn and staying at the Solvorn Gjestehus!

My wife and I loved the Solvorn Ghestehus. It is the one place in Norway that we would return to spend more time. We had room 1, off the downstairs living room. It felt like our own home...so comfortable, and clean, and welcoming. Being a guesthouse, and not a hotel, there's an atmosphere of "at-home-ness" and ease that we found inviting and refreshing. We were struck with the quality of the furnishings, and the excellent taste of the decoration. Mingling with the other guests added to the experience...the family from Singapore, and the Norwegian woman from Oslo who educated us about trolls! And then meeting Mara, our hostess, was an added plus. As well, the village of Solvorn was, for us, the best of all places we visited in Norway (Oslo, Alesund, Loen, Solvorn, and Bergen). A sleepy little village on the fjord, off the main road, with little to do but hike (excellent hiking along the fjord!), and relax.

Stayed at Solvorn Gjestehus for 4 nights recently in the loft double with a shared bathroom. The whole house is immaculately clean, tidy and very well presented. There is tea and coffee provided all day long and a fridge stocked with things to have a very good breakfast - egg, rolls, cheese, meat, smoked salmon, jam, cereals. We were also given some waffle batter one day to make our own waffles. The location is just a minutes walk from the fjord and there is also a little shop and cafe which are both really good. The ferry over to Urnes also leaves from Solvorn and makes a great day trip. A very relaxing stay! Highly recommended.

The guesthouse was lovely. I stayed in the single room right off the front door, but it was quiet as other guests were quite considerate. The furnishings were nicely simple and neutral while also being stylish, the bed was extremely comfortable and cozy, the bathroom nicely appointed. The village is adorable and close to many attractions. Mara stopped by to give me some homemade strawberry shortcake the night I arrived. Sadly I didn't get to meet her as I had just stepped out of the shower and she left it for me outside my room. (It was absolutely delicious!) What a welcoming gesture.
