Veldig koselig båt, hyggelig vertskap og atmosfæren er veldig fin, da man kan omgås andre reisende. Ligger flott til, og man kan se nordlys fra båten! Perfekt for deg som ønsker en mer autentisk opplevelse😊👍

Terrible Experience – Dirty, Moldy, and Completely Disappointing

I don’t even know where to begin. The Norwegian Fjord Explorer was an absolute disaster from the moment we stepped on board. The boat was filthy – not just a little dirty, but like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. Dust, grime, and sticky floors everywhere.

The worst part? Mold. It was growing on the walls, especially in the bathroom and around the windows. The air smelled damp and musty, and honestly, it felt like a health hazard. I can’t imagine how this is allowed to operate.

The seating was stained and uncomfortable, the windows were so dirty you couldn’t even enjoy the views (which was the whole point of the trip), and the staff didn’t seem to care at all. When we politely mentioned the conditions, they just shrugged.

There was also no proper ventilation, and it felt suffocating inside. The toilets were disgusting – no soap, no toilet paper, and a horrible smell coming from them the entire ride.

This was supposed to be a scenic and relaxing fjord experience, but instead, it was stressful, gross, and totally overpriced for what we got. Avoid this boat at all costs. There are better, cleaner, and safer options out there.

I made the booking believing that my room will be onboard Norwegian Explorer. No, it was in a warehouse on the pier. Not what I booked. The room was hot and I was not able to sleep. I found out that one of the radiators was hot, so hot it could no be touched. The thermostat had no effect. Later found a valve and was able to close the hot water. But the night was already over. I inquired about breakfast and N. Explorer proposed 08:30 that was late for me as I had some driving to do. Went to the ship, nobody was there and no breakfast and I left 08:35. 08:50 they sent a message that ”we are here” or something. No personnel anywhere.
Their attitude show total lack of interest and I want full refund of my payment. N. Explorer probably say that this is spam, no it’s not and I stay 100% behind what I wrote.

Hadden geboekt en een maand op voorhand kregen we een mail dat de boot naar lofoten gaat.
Heel zakelijk gemeld van hun dat we best de boeking annulieren, anders krijgen we ons geld niet terug. Geen persoonlijke sorry of dergelijke, of hulp bij het vinden van een oplossing of een soort van terugbetaling omdat we nu extra werk moeten doen.

I absolutely loved the location of this hotel. And as a budget traveller, I’m so grateful this option is available in Tromso. The rooms are very small, it’s a boat so I absolutely was not expecting luxurious cabins. But I don’t think they’re well described. All the rooms have lofted beds. With little headroom or footing to get in and out of the beds with ease. For reference, I am 5’7 and the bed was at eye level. I managed ok in the end but it wasn’t a room to come back and relax in when getting in and out of bed required such efforts. Worth noting for less agile patrons. This aside, the thing that let it down I would say would be the staff. The email you get before checking in explains ‘hot drinks are available at almost any time’. As I was checking in after staff have vacated the boat, I emailed to ask if there would be an option for me to serve my own hot drinks. Not being sure if ‘almost any time’ included after 8pm. The email I got back was ‘all the information is on the email, please read it properly’. Not particularly helpful as the language was vague. And in the time it had taken to email me that response, a simple yes or no would have sufficed. When on board, there are 2 women who work there but they look and act as if any question is of the greatest inconvenience to them. For breakfast there are no signs or helpful staff around to just show you the lay out. Simple things like milk for the coffee or where to put dirty dishes. I would describe this place more like a hostel, have to sort of figure it out for yourself as you go rather than a hotel. If you go with that in mind - and pleased you’ve found a bit of a bargain - then I think your stay will be pleasant enough. I only stayed the 2 nights - and only had breakfast the 1 morning as I was so put off from the previous day - I wouldn’t recommend staying for much more.
