Amazing location and a good way to share experiences with others. The place looks nice (I attached some photos).||Tips: |- install Tromso Bilett app. You will probably use it frequently to go to the city center. If I remember correctly, the bus 34 is the right one (the bus station is 2 minutes from the house).|- near the house there's a beach. I read from others that you can see the Aurora from there if the sky is clear. I didn't see it, but the surroundings are nice and it's a good ideea to go for a walk near the house.

Great multi day stay at Osiris. House is gorgeous! The bunk bed is comfortable and there are two bathrooms/showers. Room is adequate, but no lockers or door locks. Room has individual heating. The two bathrooms are excellent, standing shower with great water pressure, upstairs and downstairs. Large size living room with couch land dining area; kitchen average size. No television. Modern appliances with dishwasher, oven and microwave. Housekeeper daily. P

Refrigerator is small, especially if a full house. Microwave needs instructions, for those unfamiliar. Trash bin needs to be bigger as well or multiplied, again especially if full house. Hot water runs out if all persons use shower at similar times. There are no key cards or door code to front door, always unlocked. Also difficult to close/latch, and discovered the front door wide open in middle of night.

This hostel is like staying at your Norwegian friend's house. Would return.

-1000 stars.

Book only if you want to be verbally abused and told to “FO my property”. This guy talks like a thug and thinks he is some kind of a god who can do whatever he wants.
I arrived at the property at 11.30am while the check in was 4pm.
I have been to 100s of hostel backpacking all over Europe since the last 5 months — I know how hostels operate. You are always allowed to put your bags but access to room is not given.

Now, this guy, has no reception at his property. He will send you no email, no pin for keys, nothing. You’ll end up standing in snow for hours!
I ended up meeting his neighbor outside and requested her to call the host. She did.

I am not even exaggerating— the very first words that came out of his mouth were “why the F are you at my property 7 hours before because the checkin is at 4”.

First of all, his math is way off, understandably because he is clearly uneducated — I arrived 4 hours before checkin not 7! Now, doesn’t matter when I arrive or what I request — who the hell gives him the right to talk to anyone, let alone a paying customer?!!!

He told me to FO his property while I’m telling him “sir do not talk to me like that”. He continues to abuse me. Well, of course, as his tone suggests, it escalated because I’m not here to take a random strangers cussing. Of course it was a non refundable booking and he had the audacity to deny me checking, on top of abusing me. When I sent a cancellation through booking.com for full refund, he had the shamelessness to “decline” the refund after he abused and told me to FO the property. So basically, he is a scammer who will take your money for a non refundable booking, assault you, and then deny refund.

I called booking.com and they refunded my entire amount, no questions asked, and opened an investigation on him to remove him from their platform.

Now, if this is the kind of experience you want from a rude, ill treating, and disrespectful owner who has nothing better to do in life than to treat paying customers to scam them, go ahead and book!

I found it so bad that after 2 nights I left, even if I had paid 5!!! I detested it. I didn’t get any sleep in 2 nights since it’s so loud and busy. It’s beautiful but not for 16 people!!! This is not a hostel, it’s a family house where they now host 16 people, who share 2 toilets/bathrooms and 1 kitchen. It should not be for more than 4-6!!! It’s overcrowded. No cupboards or anything to leave your stuff. Expect to live from your backpack the whole time. Impossible to sleep at night, as people come and go, setting alarm clocks throughout the night to try to catch the Aurora. There is nobody make the house quiet at night. It’s 40 mins walk from the city centre. Note that all tours start and finish in the centre. There is a bus but it doesn’t run at night so expect to walk back in the snow. It’s hard to cook since there is always someone cooking. Hard not to wait for the toilet regardless the hour… any Airbnb room will be better than this.

The house is excellent for backpackers and solo travelers. About 13 min by no.34 bus (bus stop is 5 min walk from hostel) from the city centre, this hostel has amazing facilities. Self check-in/out. Communication is clear and the place wasn't tough to find. There is also a grocery store in 10 min walking distance.  If you have night excursions planned, prepare to book Uber or have friends who can drive you back. Your only problem at the hostel can be bad roommates which depends on your luck!
My suggestions to the owner would be clear signage for guests & their beds, a house rules chart and addition of extension cords for charging ports in the rooms. But even so, it wasn't that big of a trouble - there are several ports around the house. Would come back here if I ever come back to Tromso.

Osiris Home, Promising on paper, yet severely lacking in real. My initial experience was marred by a room discrepancy, the one assigned in Miguel's email had no available bed. Upon contacting Miguel, I discovered I was, in fact, in room number 5. A forgivable mistake, until conversations with fellow guests revealed a pattern of misinformation and frequent room changes orchestrated by Miguel. Three new arrivals, two left uninformed by Miguel, a situation exacerbated by his apparent lack of understanding and hasty problem-solving.

The laundry room presented its own set of challenges. The detergent drawer was an unsightly mess, filled with powder despite explicit instructions for liquid detergent only. I found myself cleaning the machine, a task that shouldn't have fallen on guests. The dryer proved subpar, failing to dry clothes even after a prolonged 12-hour cycle which someone had problems with. Laundered sheets, raised serious doubts about the overall cleanliness, particularly when the machine seems to not properly clean.

Compounding the issues, the communal fridge was a horror show. Collaborating with three others, we painstakingly emptied and scrubbed it, revealing expired food dating back to May and July. The sheer magnitude led us to dispose of an entire garbage bag's worth of items. Cupboards harbored equally unpleasant surprises, moldy bread, old grapes, and several other expired products.

Adding a layer of security concern, the entrance door lacked a functional lock, staying perpetually open. While not universally problematic, the potential risks could be easily mitigated with a simple code lock system. One incident, where the door remained ajar for three hours before being noticed, highlighted the urgency of addressing this basic security flaw.

Additionally, it's crucial to highlight Miguel's discourteous demeanor. His aggressive cleaning approach and overall behavior towards travelers have been a cause for concern. He not only accuses individuals he hasn't even seen of being disruptive the previous night but also approaches conflicts with an unnecessarily confrontational attitude.

During my three-night stay, the first two nights were notably loud and bustling. Strangely, on the last night, when Miguel was lodging complaints about noise, the atmosphere was considerably quieter with people simply engaging in conversations and enjoying a relaxed evening. His accusations seemed unfounded and difficult to comprehend.

Furthermore, the inconsistency in enforcing rules adds to the frustration. While the rule against sleeping on the couch is reasonable, the lack of clarity becomes apparent. On the first two nights, two old men from
UK were peacefully reading books on the couch, and another guest casually used his phone. They were lying down not sleeping. Suddenly, Miguel insists on a new rule prohibiting feet on the couch, causing confusion and frustration among guests but he targeted someone else specifically with an agressive attitude. The lack of clear communication exacerbates the already challenging experience at Osiris Home.

In essence, while the concept of Osiris Home is intriguing, there exists a substantial gap between its potential and the current reality, with immediate attention needed in refining reservation management processes and addressing the evident hygiene and security lapses. It’s more like an hostel but more quieter than most of the hostel out there and of course more modern. Just keep in mind you’re in Tromsø people are going in and out a lot, specially because there is a lot to do by night or early in the morning so don’t be surprised, which is not a problem but some people might not be use to it.
